The Twentieth Century City
September 9, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
The Gate City grew from a courthouse and college town to the second largest city in the state during the twentieth century, and our downtown has some of the best examples of architecture of the period to show for it! Unusual highlights of the tour include early skyscrapers, Mid-Century Modern, and Brutalist buildings that stand among the best examples in the state.
Learn about history and design on an architectural tour of Elm Street and blocks on the northern side of our center city. Led by Preservation Greensboro’s Urban Guide Ryan Gray, you will gain insights on what exactly makes our city so cool! Tours will take an hour and a half depending on questions.
Rain or shine, cancelled only if thunder is heard. Wear comfortable shoes!
