Kisco Senior Living, a California company, purchased the site last year. Since then, news has been scarce about whether the historic buildings would be a part of the new community. Behind the scenes, however, plans have quietly been assembled that will see the restoration of the primary Georgian Revival headquarters buildings designed by Philadelphia-firm Zantzinger, Barie, Medary and the gracious front lawn by Philadelphia landscape architect R. B. Cridland.
The property will be adaptively reused as a senior living community. According to their website, the new senior living campus will include single level garden homes and cottages as well as spacious apartment residences adjacent to the restored Pilot buildings.
As proposed, this project will be a credit to Sedgefield, Greensboro, and Guilford County. It exemplifies the best of historic preservation in process…saving the very best of our past to shape a unique and vibrant future. Residents of the Kisco project will have a distinguished centerpiece to call home, and will no doubt enjoy showing off their historic campus to visitors.
